Abstract

Parachipteria snowdonensis sp. nov. is described from moss habitats on the summits of two peaks in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. The species is closely related to P. punctata (Nicolet) from which it differs by having shorter notogastral setae, longer free-ended tutoria and larger Aa and A1 areae porosae. P. snowdonensis is unique amongst the Achipteriidae in having a pore-like structure on the anterior part of the pteromorph.
