Karen D. McCOY (karen.mccoy@ird.fr) is a Research Director at the CNRS working in the MIVEGEC laboratory in Montpellier France. Her research focuses on the ecology and evolution of host-parasite interactions, with a specific interest in the relationship between parasite dispersal/transmission dynamics, host adaptive responses, and the evolution of host-associated divergences. Her primary research model involves ticks (Ixodidae and Argasidae) interacting with colonial seabirds and includes a combination of field observations, experimentation and the use of molecular markers analysed within a population genetic framework.

Lise ROY (lise.roy@univ-montp3.fr) is Assistant Professor of Population Biology and Ecology at the Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 and a member of the research center Centre d’Ecologie Fonctionnelle et Evolutive (CEFE) in Montpellier. Her research interests focus on the effect of human activities on populations and communities of mites (and other arthropods) in agroecosystems. She has been previously studying how long distance commercial trade (breaking down of geographical barriers by long-distance transports) and insecticide use (selective pressure) are shaping pest and non-target arthropod population structure in avian and crop farms. Currently she’s studying determinants of the biotic interactions involving the Poultry Red Mite Dermanyssus gallinae in poultry farms in two different axes: chemical interactions with the bird host, trophic interactions within arthropod food webs (including mite predators and other natural enemies of hematophagous mites). This is dedicated to advancing the understanding of mite ecology while helping to encourage agro-ecological pest management in poultry farms (e.g. attract-and-kill techniques, biological control).
