Abstract
1. Seventeen species belonging to the family Tetranychidae (spider mites) were recognized from the Malay Peninsula. Keys were provided for their identification, and information was also given on the plant hosts and distribution of each species. 2. The following new species were described: Schizotetranychus colocasiae Ehara, S. malayanus Ehara, 5. kochummeni Ehara, 5. approximate Ehara, S. laevidorsatus Ehara, S. saitoi Ehara, Tetranychus malaysiensis Ehara, and T. bambusicola Ehara. 3. Seven species were reported from Malaysia for the first time: Eutetranychus orientalis (Klein), Aponychus corpuzae Rimando, Stylophoronychus varrnus (Rimando), Panonychus citri (McGregor), Oligonychus coffeae (Nietner), Tetranychus fijiensis Hirst, and T. kanzawai Kishida.
