Abstract
Detailed results are given of recent pilot schemes of integrated control of lemon pests in Sicily, which involved simultaneous implementation of different control programmes in different subdivisions of the test area. A table is presented showing 10 species of pests, the type of treatment tested, its result, and the predators and parasites present at the time (whether or not these were used deliberately for biological control). Natural parasitism and predation were very effective, and good results were obtained with cultural control against Prays citri (Mill.), with biological control against Toxoptera aurantii (Boy.), Planococcus citri (Risso), Icerya purchasi Mask. and Tetranychus urticae Koch, with sprays of 2% mineral oil against Aspidiotus nerii Bch., Aonidiella aurantii (Mask.), P. citri, Dialeurodes citri (Ashm.) and Aceria sheldoni (Ewing), with various chemical sprays (0.5% fenbutatin acetate (Neostanox), 0.05% benzoximate (benzomate) or mixtures of tetradifon or dicofol, with or without mineral oil) against Panonychus citri (McG.), and with 0.2% ziram against Aculops pelekassi (Keifer)
