Studies on the impact of ecological changes due to urbanization on the prevalence of ixodid ticks were carried out in Pune and its suburbs, Maharashtra state, India. The study indicated that the infestation rate on domestic animals, especially cattle and buffaloes, has come down considerably due to ecological changes. It is surmised that deforestation and construction activities, which are going on in the region, have affected the breeding and resting places of ticks.
