Abstract

Two new listrophorid fur-mites of the genus Austrochirus are described from Australian marsupials. These are A. filmeri from Macrotis (Peramelidae) and A. dycei from Trichosurus (Phalangeridae). Five of the six known species are from marsupials. The two from peramelids are quite distinct from the two from phalangeroids, while the other two (from dasyurids and a native murine rat, respectively) are likewise individually distinct. All six, however, are of a generally similar facies, and no new genera are comtemplated.
