Abstract

The Mesostigmata associated with vertebrates are treated with respect to the origin and evolution of parasitism, phylogenetic relationships of suprageneric groups and among genera of the Macronyssidae, relevance of certain morphological and biological modifications to parasitic modes of life, feeding relationships, and host specificity.
