Abstract
Les especes du genre Tetranychus Dufour (Acariens: Tetranychidae) ayant une incidence economique a Madagascar et Bans les lles voisines. Competition entre les complexes Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre et Tetranychus urticae Koch. - Among the 14 species of the genus Tetranychus DUFOUR, numbered in the insular domain of the occidental Indian Ocean, only 5 have an appreciable economic importance: Tetranychits neocaledonicits, T. urticae, T. evansi, T . macjarlanei and T . fijiensis. The present distribution of these species and the nature of their host plants, show that T. urticae, ,T. evansi, T. macjarlanei and T fijiensis have probably been introducted in this region by man. In Madagascar, the T . neocaledonicus-complex looks like a polyspecific community that only T. itrticae has succeeded in penetrating. Three elements contribute to favour the extension of the T. itrticae populations on the central highlands of the Great Island: a nearly complete destruction of the original vegetation, followed by an introduction of plants coming from the temperate zone, an intrinsic rate of natural increase of the populations (rm) higher than the T . neocaledonicus one and finally a better resistance to pesticide treatments.
