Abstract

Scapheremaeus corniger (Berlese, 1908), an oribatid mite never cited in the acarological literature since the original description, has been found in samples of stems and leaves of shrubs from Cape Gata (Province of Almeria, Spain) and from Los Barrios (Province of Cadiz, Spain). The Authors redescribe this mite in order to complete Berlese s description. They think that corniger is a climbing oribatid that lives on xerophytes in the Mediterranean littoral.
