Abstract

Nine new species of Oplitis were described. Both males and females of Oplitis aktius, O. alienormn,. O. anisits, O. arboricavi, O. commimis and O. exopodi were described. Oplitis blufjtonensis and O. cheleuta were described from females and O. carteretensis from a single male. The genus was redefined. Species. were collected from colonies of the following ant genera: Brachyponera, Camponotus, Formica, Lasius, Pogonomyrmex and Solenopsis, as well as from tree hole organic matter, leaf litter and moss.
