Abstract

A new subfamily of Oppiidae Grandjean, 1951, Paternoppiinae n. subfam., is created and characterized, and a new genus and new species, Paternoppia andalusicabulensis n. gen., n. sp., is described within it. The specimen studiead was extracted from a soil sample collected in a burned pine forest at Arenas de San Pedro (Sierra de Gredos, Province of Avila, Central Spain). It presents an original mosaic of characters and shows similarities with the subfamilies Multioppiinae Balogh, 1983 and Antilloppiinae Mahunka, 1985.
