Notes: In Acanthonychus the 13 pairs of dorsal body setae are very long and borne on strong tubercles; striae on female dorsum transverse; 2 sets of duplex setae on tarsus I distal and adjacent; tibia II with I set of duplex setae; true claws pad-like and with tenent hairs; empodium split into 3 pairs of ventrally directed hairs; female with 1 pair of anals (ps1) and 2 pairs of para-anal setae (h2-3); peritreme anastomosing distally. (Meyer, 1987).
