Notes: This genus is distinctive in that the dorsum (Fig. 135) is provided with 3 pairs of prodorsal and 12 pairs of opisthosomal setae; dorsal body setae long and set on strong tubercles; most opisthosomal setae contiguous; true claws short pads provided with tenent hairs distally; peritreme forms an anastomosis distally. (Meyer, 1987).

The genus Hystrichonychus comprises 11 species.
