Abstract
The population dynamics of Eotetranychus tiliarium on three linden species (Tilia platyphyllos, T. cordata, T. tomentosa) was studied under urban conditions. At the highest density of the mite population linden leaves were sampled for further morphological and cytological analyses. The. study conducted during two growing seasons 0997, 1998) showed that the linden species tested differed distinciiy in their respons to E. tiliarium feeding. Tilia platyphyllos was definitely more infested by mites than the other ·two species . .The extent of leaf damage in the species studied was evidently related to the type and density of hairs on the leaf underside and to the internal strncture of the linden leaves.
