Bioefficacy of ethion against mite, Eutetranychus orientalis (Klein) and its residue on pear fruits. Pesticide Research Journal, 16 (2): 33-35.

Abstract
Field trials were conducted during 2002-03, 2003-04 on 25-year-old sand pear plants in Abohar, Punjab, India to investigate the bioefficacy of some insecticides against E. orientalis and the residues of ethion on pear fruits. There were 8 treatments, consisting of dimethoate (0.03 and 0.05%), ethion (0.05 and 0.075%), quinalphos (0.05 and 0.075%), and triazophos (0.05 and 0.075%). Among the 8 treatments, ethion at both doses of 0.05 and 0.075% proved equally effective even 10 days after spraying. Following application of ethion (Tafethion 50 EC) at recommended dose of 1.0 ml/l (0.05%) on pear, the initial deposit of ethion was observed to be less than its maximum residue limit of 2.0 mg/kg. However, based on acceptable daily intake of ethion of 0.002 mg/kg, a waiting period of 10 days is recommended for safe consumption of pear fruits following application at recommended dose.
