Abstract
Two species of mites were reported causing damage to peach in commercial orchards in the high altitude zones of Colonia Tovar, Aragua State and El Jarillo, Miranda State, Venezuela, in 1975. They were found to be Aculus cornutus (Banks) and Panonychus ulmi (Koch). This appears to be the first record of the latter species from a tropical region. The distinguishing characters of the mites, the damage they cause and their world distribution are reviewed
