Abstract
In the summer of 1978, the author took part in a control programme against insect, other pests in an orchard in the Krasnodar region of the USSR, and the local conditions encountered are described. The commonest and most injurious pests of fruit trees were Zeuzera pyrina (L.), Cossus spp., Quadraspidiotus perniciosus (Comst.), Parthenolecanium corni (Bch.), Bryobia rubrioculus (Scheuten), Hyphantria cunea (Dru.) (an introduced pest) and Cydia pomonella (L.). Notes are given on the habits, bionomics and control of these pests.
