Abstract
A survey was conducted during 1995-96 to determine the Tetranychoidea (Acarina: Prostigmata) species feeding on ornamental woody plants in the park areas of Ankara Province, Turkey. Eleven species were identified: 6 from Tetranychidae, 5 from Tenuipalpidae. In total, 580 samples were collected and 47 plant species were examined. Thirty-one plant species were infected by mites in the park areas of Ankara. Aegyptobia mccormicki, A. tragardhi, Pentamerismus taxi and Tetranychus urticae were the most common tetranychoid species from shrubs and woody ornamentals in the parks of Ankara. In addition, Stenotarsonemus pallidus [Phytonemus pallidus] was observed as a harmful mite species. A. mccormicki, A. tragardhi and Pentamerismus taxi are new records for the mite fauna of Turkey.
