Abstract
A survey was carried out on the phytophagous Acari associated with mango crops in Costa Rica in the provinces of Alajuela, Puntarenas, Cuanacaste. Descriptions of the principle species and their damage are provided together with brief notes on their distribution and control. Coloured illustrations of Oligonychus sp. and their damage to leaves and damage due to some diseases are also provided. The species covered are the tetranychids Oligonychus yothersi and O. punicae, the eriophyids Eriophyes mangiferae [Aceria mangiferae] and Cisaberoptus kenyae, the tenuipalpid Brevipalpus phoenicis, Tuckerella knorri and the tarsonemid Polyphagotarsonemus latus
