Abstract
This paper consists largely of an annotated list showing (by families) the mites, insects found associated with cotton in the Murgab oasis in Turkmenia, USSR. The information shown for each includes its abundance, whether it feeds on cotton or on weeds or on a mixed diet or whether it is a predator, parasite, pollinator, mutualist or saprophage. In all, 294 species in 69 families are listed. The dominant pests of cotton are Tetranychus urticae Koch, Asymmetrasca decedens (Paoli), Kyboasca bipunctata (Oshanin), Aphis craccivora Koch, A. gossypii Glov., Acyrthosiphon gossypii Mordv., Lygus gemellatus (H.-S.), and Thrips tabaci Lind., and many predators and parasites are recorded.
