Abstract
The 19 species of arthropods here recorded for the first time from Puerto Rico include a species of Schizotetranychus that is probably undescribed, collected on rice foliage, Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard attacking the leaves of tomato, killing the plants, the curculionid Caulophilus oryzae (Gylh.) reared from seeds of avocado, a species of Leucopis of the group of L. albipuncta Zett. preying on Aphis citricola v.d. Goot (spiraecola Patch), Ceroplastes rubens Mask., collected on the leaves of various plants including mango and avocado, Coccus moestus De Lotto from mango leaves, Saissetia neglecta De Lotto from stems and branches of pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan), Fiorinia fioriniae (Targ.) from the leaves of avocado, a parasite of the genus Trichopria reared from guava fruits infested with Anastrepha suspensa (Lw.), and Diadegma insularis (Cress.) reared from pupae of Plutella xylostella (L.) on cabbage., ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:, The 19 species of arthropods here recorded for the first time from Puerto Rico include Amblyomma variegatum (F.) collected from cattle, Hypoderma bovis (L.) taken from a native cow (it had previously been reported in Puerto Rico on imported cattle), and the parasite Desantisca abalosi (De santis), which was reared from eggs of Latrodectus mactans (F.)
