Les Tetranychidae de l'île de la Réunion et quelques-uns de leurs prédateurs. Agronomie Tropicale, 41 (1): 84-91.

Abstract
Examination of about 100 samples of tetranychids collected on wild, cultivated plants on Reunion revealed the presence of at least 13 species. Of the 7 species recorded on the island for the first time, Eutetranychus africanus (with which E. sambiranensis is synonymized) was found on cotton and rose, Oligonychus mangiferus on mango, avocado and rose, O. coffeae on grapevine and Terminalia catappa, O. plegas on coconut palm, Tetranychus amicus on many plants including cowpea [Vigna unguiculata], groundnut, soyabean and aubergine, and T. evansi, which had been accidentally introduced from Mauritius on tomato, on Reunion was found on tomato, tobacco, Phaseolus spp., Populus sp., castor [Ricinus communis], rose, maize and many other plants and was one of the 2 most destructive pests on the island (T. urticae being the other). Insect and mite predators recorded were the phytoseiids Amblyseius ovaloides and Phytoseiulus persimilis, the staphylinid Oligota flavicornis, the coccinellid Stethorus histrio and the aeolothripid Scolothrips hartwigi. A list is given of the 48 plant species on Reunion from which tetranychids were collected, including the pest species found on each and the common and scientific names of the plants. In view of the 2 subgenera to which the species of Oligonychus of Reunion belong, and the marked polyphagy of the species of Tetranychus, keys to the species of these genera are provided
