Abstract
Heavy tetranychid infestation of rice observed in 1980 at Casamance in Senegal were found to have been due to Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre, Oligonychus pratensis (Banks), a new species of Oligonychus that is described here from the adult male and female as O. senegalensis sp.n. It appeared to be most closely related to O. indicus (Hirst) from India and Mexico and O. tylus Baker & Pritchard from Mauritius, and the male genitalia of the 3 species are compared.
