Abstract
As a result of a series of collections on crops in Casamance, Senegal, 8 species of tetranychids were identified, of which 7 (Oligonychus pratensis (Banks) on rice, sorghum, O. senegalensis Gutierrez & Etienne on rice [see preceding abstract], Tetranychus neocaledonicus Andre on rice and cucumber, T. urticae Koch on maize and papaya, T. tchadi Gutierrez & Bolland on soyabean, O. gossypii (Zacher) on cassava and O. licinus Baker & Pritchard on Vigna sp.) were recorded for the 1st time in Senegal, Eutetranychus monodi Andre on groundnut and cassava was already known in that country. The heaviest infestations were found on rice. Notes are given on the morphology, history, food-plants in other countries, and biology, including feeding habits and the nature of the damage caused.
