Abstract
Keys for the identification of the 26 species of tetranychid mites (including 3 new species, 3 that are new for the country) recognised in India are provided, together with notes on their distribution and biology, including their food-plants and natural enemies. The new species are Schizotetranychus cajani sp. n., which is described from adults of both sexes on Cajanus cajan in West Bengal in August 1972, Oligonychus sapienticolus sp. n. from adults of both sexes on banana in West Bengal in July 1972, and Tetranychus hypogaeae sp. n. from adults of both sexes on groundnut in West Bengal in November 1972
