Abstract
The only species of Bryobiinae previously known in Chile was Bryobia rubrioculus (Scheuten), a pest of various deciduous fruit trees, but during a survey of 1960-71 of tetranychoid mites on wild, cultivated plants in that country, 8 other species were collected, of which 5 were new to science. Most species were collected from grasses and other wild plants, where the food-plant was known at all, but B. kissophila van Eyndhoven was found infesting ivy (Hedera helix) and B. repensi Manson on Medicago sp. (lucerne) and Melilotus sp. (sweet clover), both species were new to South America
