Abstract
A report on plant mites from French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and their distinctive characteristics and plant hosts, is presented. The spider mite Tetranychus piercei from French Guiana was found on pawpaws, while the false spider mite, Dolichotetranychus vandergooti from Guadeloupe was found on orchids. Five new species from Guadeloupe are also included: Acalitus amydros sp. nov., found on Lonchocarpus punctatus; Acaphyllisa limitata sp. nov., found on leaves of Trichostigma octandrum; Nothopoda brevilinea sp. nov., found on Trichostigma octandrum; N. integra sp. nov., found on Tournefortia hirsutissima; and Paraphytoptella secunda sp. nov., found on leaves of Cordia polycephala.
