Abstract
Pest, predator, neutral mite species (Acari) were detected in ornamental plants, deciduous trees and shrubs (47 plant species) in parks, nurseries and green areas in Tekirdağ city center. According to the survey results, 2 species of Tetranychidae (Tetranychus urticae Koch, Panonychus ulmi Koch); 8 species of Tenuipalpidae (Cenopalpus spinosus Donnadieu, C. irani Dosse (1971), C. bakeri Düzgüneş, C. pennasitesus Wainstein, Pentamerismus oregonensis McGregor, P. taxi Haller, Brevipalpus lewisi McGregor); 7 species belonging to Phytoseiidae family (Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga, Kampimadromus aberrans Oudemans, Euseius finlandicus Oudemans, Amblyseius andersoni Chant, Typhlodromus athiasae Porath and Swisrki, Paraseiulus triporus Chant and Yoshida-Shaul and P. soleigner Ribaga); 2 species from Tydeiidae family (Tydeus californicus Banks, T.caudatus Duges), Blattisocius tarsalis Berlese from Ascidae and Tyrophagus putrescentiae Schrank from Acaridae. In the study, Tetranychus urticae was determined as the most common pest species with a rate of 47%. The most preferred hosts of T.urticae were found to be firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea) and rose (Rosa gallica). Cenopalpus bakeri was the second most common phytophagous species (30%). The rate of predator and neutral mites was 57%. Campimodromus aberrans was the most common predatory mite species with 172 individuals and 56.21% occurrence rate and was collected from 17 different plant species. Catalpa bignonioides, Fraxinus excelsior, Aesculus hippocastanum and Tilia tometosa were the most colonized plants. K. aberrans was followed by the predatory mite species Euseius finlandicus and Phytoseius finitimus. In the study, it was concluded that parks and ornamental plants in green areas in the center of Tekirdağ are infected with pest mites, but since they are not in significant numbers, they can be controlled by predatory mites with higher populations.
