Oribates). influence de la temperature. - This paper studies the relation between temperature and speed of development of eggs and larvae of two mite species reared in laboratory: Damaeus cluvipes and D onustus. The main conclusions are as follows: 1. In a range of ecological temperatures (below than 20°C) the relation between lenght of development and temperature is according to exponential curve and it allows to estimate the Q10 development (4 for D. onitstus; 3.6 for D. clavipes). 2. All the experimental points are represented by a sigmoid curve. This approach permits comparison between species in terms of thermie sensibility and developmental potential. This comparison is further established by the data on the mortality of eggs and larvae at different temperatures and the high lethal temperatures. 3. Ecological consequences of the problem are also discussed. Firts it implies the construction of specially characterised ecological time scale (as given in a previous paper). Secondly, importance of life cycle and its thermie dependence is fondamental in the cyclic succession of the community phenology and in the composition of relative abundance of biocenose which join partially in the level of species diversity.
