A new species of Pulaeus taken from rat burrows in the Kalubeia region of Egypt is described from the female as P. zaherii sp. n. It is noted that most species of Cunaxidae (the mite family to which P. zaherii belongs) are predators of scale insects and tetranychids in the trees and of other small arthropods on the soil surface, in litter or animal droppings, or in the topsoil layer.
